Salam :D here’s you random question~ If you could transport to any place during any period of time, where and when would it be?
burdreams

Wasalaam! I’m sure a lot of people would say the time of the prophet, or the time of the Imams or sahaba, but I shall go a different route. Myself, I’m a scientist, an Arab, a Muslim.

therefore, I choose what has been called by Western history and society as the “Dark Ages,” but Alas ‘twas not so dark after all. they will have you thinking it was disease, death, destruction and plundering, having one think the greeks and romans invented and came up with everything. On the contrary! let’s begin!

I, and the rest of objective history not circulating around the west, call it “the Golden Ages,” driven mainly by our people, Muslims in general, and Arabs particularly. it’s all a matter of perspective…the most discoveries and revolutionary ideas ere made at this time by our very own society; the Muslim civilization.

Abbas Ibn Firnas thought about flight a thousand years before the wright brothers. he, as many renown Muslim intellectuals of this time, were known as a “polymath” or an individual whose expertise spanned many subjects. you had to be a polymath at the time to be able to come up with such revolutionary ideas and inventions that helped shaped science and technology today.

Ibn Al Haytham, the revolutionary scientist who laid the foundation of the modern camera by figuring out the physics…more specifically the science of the optics…leading to many modern day inventions.

let’s not forgot Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi…the father of modern surgery, one of the many revolutionaries of the field of medicine, which was mostly revolutionized and first ventured into by us Arabs and Muslims.

another significant individual…Al Jaziri…conversion of rotary motion to linear motion…ground breaking engineering leading to advancement in engines…the industrial revolution could not have happened without his invention. his most important achievement was the one and only time telling machine; the clock!

that’s merely a small sample size of astonishing accomplishments during the time period that should be referred to as, the golden ages, but erroneously termed otherwise because of whom modern history focuses on the most, the west. I have to go with I’d love to transport to the Middle East during the Golden Ages.
