Sincere Advice for Muslim Sisters

A brother on Tumblr said he receives 3 or more anonymous marriage proposals daily. If it is true, then sisters, please think what have we come to? What does this say about our character and upbringing? Not only it gives a false sense of pride to the person being proposed but it also decreases the value of all Muslim sisters.

Blogs aren’t always a true reflection of who people really are. I urge you to be careful when dealing with those brothers/sisters who hide their identity whilst issuing fatawas without the necessary qualifications to do so. Precious Muslims, observe modesty and preserve the chastity of your heart. With Allaah, you can never be anonymous or wear an online mask. Be steadfast and observe the rules of dealing with non-Mahrams. We’ll be held accountable for every word we utter, “Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him (to record it)” (50:18)

If you are interested in someone, why not do it the right way and get Allaah’s blessings right from the start itself? Do Istikhara before making the decision to contact a potential suitor, ask your Mahram to initiate contact, make dua to Allaah and hold onto patience. Inability to follow this basic steps is a reflection of lack of seriousness.

Brothers and sisters, please do not make the Muslim community on Tumblr a fitnah for yourself and others. JazzakAllaahu khairan.
