a short reminder from surah Naml

thalamtnafsee:

during the time of Sulaiman, there were a group of people — far into the land — who used to prostrate to the sun. Quran describes their worship as vain; hence, because of their inability to articulate their worship (especially as to what it stood for), they were unable to receive any form of guidance. And with their deeds, Quran says that Shaytan had made their deeds appear lofty to them (verse 24).

So we pray that we are not among those who are pleased with our deeds, and yet, because of our vain form of worship (because of our lack of reflection of why we worship Whom we do), our deeds are of no worth.
