Why do we place so much emphasis on worldly matters rather than the matters that impact our Hereafter? For example, when an opportunity to gain some wealth arises, it is expected to drop all of our tasks and responsibilities in order to get to that job interview or meeting. But, come time for…

itskinddacool asked: Why do they say that prayer is a call for success?

That’s a fairly interesting question that would vary from Muslim to Muslim.

But the reason why our call to prayer suggests that prayer is a call for success is because when we submit to God through worship, we become successful people.

Because we come to recognize that through prayer, we were once dust and shall return to dust, the intricacies of this life no longer delude us nor misguide us from our journey towards righteousness.

And that, my friend, is what makes those who pray successful people. — Dee.

douloureuse asked: Salam oe aleikom, Lately i really wanted to pray but I just can't, it seems like something is holding me back

Walaykum asalam wa rahamatullahi wa barakathu,

I’ve been there before, many times. The only thing holding you back is simply put: yourself. Mind over matter, you need to push yourself and get up to make wudu and pray. If it means a lot to you, you will find a way and energy to do so, and if it doesn’t you will find an excuse. I have done this before and what I tell myself to get back on track is: How will you justify not praying when questioned about it in your grave?

So just push yourself, with all the energy you could to get up and do it. Have the intention to pray and make a lot of dua (especially now during Ramadan) for Allah to help you become consistent with it and to increase your faith.

And keep in mind Hadith Qudsi #15:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Allah the Almighty said:

‘I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.”

Insha’Allah this helps you, Ramadan Mubarak!

conspiracyofmyheart asked: I want to start praying but I don't know how to perform a prayer.. Can you help me?

Peace and many blessings,

We get asked this question a lot, and hopefully, we’ll be providing a step by step guide that you can download and print when we finally get it together.

In the meantime, I thought this video was quite helpful. It doesn’t only thoroughly explain how to make prayer and the ablution (or wudu) previous to the prayer, but it explains why we and in what context we should pray. Also, we’ve posted another video that’s rebloggable as well.

God bless. — Dee.

[x] How to perform all five prayers

Please note, this is the traditional form prayed by most Orthodox Muslims. Because the religion of Islam invites people of all cultures, race, ethnicities, and backgrounds, the notion of meditation and worship is understood in different ways (and that’s okay). We should never belittle anyone who finds sitting for a few hours in the dark, reading the book of God during the night, or lowering the head in prostration during the day as a wrong means of worship.

Hence, to suggest that anyone who prays on soil rather than carpet is the wrong “sunnah” is a very ignorant approach to inviting a brother or sister to understanding your perspective. It is also very rude to demand that anyone who prays with their hands down to “learn how to pray;” please restrain your tongue from insulting your brother or sister in faith. And also note, it is very immature to suggest that Muslims who find Allah when constantly reading His Book or continually mentioning His name(s) in supplication are not part of the faith.

Regardless, inshaAllah this video helps anyone seeking Allah.
