My Islamic teacher was talking to us on Friday about something.

He asked us, “You guys know that Christians have a daily prayer right?” We all knew so we replied with yes. Then he says “When someone asks you if Muslims pray, what do you say?” Again we replied, “We say we pray 5 times a day. Salaat.”

Then he said “okay. Let’s go through a whole 2 rakaat salaat” We went through it and picked the meanings in english too. In the end we realized, when we pray we dont actually pray for anything.

 The only time we pray for something in the whole namaaz is “Ihtina seraatal mostaqeem” which is “guide me on the straight path.” The rest of the namaaz we are all just praising Allah

It was so suprising, for some reason. That God in the whole salaat shows us that the only thing we ever need to pray for is to be guided along the straight path. We don’t need anything else. So interesting. Goodnight y’all. <3
