How beautiful is the movement of her lips,

as she speaks the words of God,

reminding her soul,

and reminding my heart,

that she is truly in love with pleasing Him.

Last week, I had the opportunity to perform a poem about the Prophet (SAW) at Simon Fraser University’s Muslim Student Association’s Islamic Awareness Week, alongside local Vancouver talent and Boonaa Mohammed. The week was focused around learning about the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Here it is, my poem, “Utopian”.

AssalaamuAlaikum! Insha’Allah this reaches everyone in the best of health and imaan. 

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. As an ummah, we are like one body.  If you arm is cut, your mind feels it’s pain.  If you hurt your loved you, your heart feels it’s pain.  Similarily, our Ummah is a muslim’s body, soul, and mind- If a brother/sister is suffering, we are suffering.  I write to you with this link, insha’Allah if you could all sign to END DRONE STRIKES against CHILDREN in Pakistan/Afghanistan.
