Find this blog useful?
I would just like to clarify a simple misunderstanding that has happened not too long ago and insha’Allah shed some light on this issue. I want to personally make clear this notion of sharing pictures. I am sure you find thebeautyofislam quite helpful in terms of promoting Islamic principles, ideas, and advice through the use of pictures.
We, thebeautyofislam, do not have any type of problem if you find these pictures, texts, or videos fascinating. In fact, we want you to share all that we ever blog on your tumblr, twitter, and facebook accounts. Islam teaches us to spread knowledge, teach knowledge, and share knowledge. We do not have a problem with this.
But our concern is when people who visit this site right click the pictures, save it on their desktops, and upload them as their own. Please, let me emphasize on the notion of “as their own.”
FOR PEOPLE ON TUMBLR: When you are blogging on tumblr, and decide to save a picture we blog on here, and upload it to your account, typing in your url as the source, this is considered stealing under the Staff Tumblr rules. These are not our rules, these are Tumblr rules. You are, therefore, NOT permitted to save some pictures from our blog, save them on your computer, and reupload them on your blog as your own. What you can do, however, is upload them (by all means), but make sure to add our url as the source. In fact, from whichever blog you decide to save pictures from and reupload them, you must source them as their pictures, not yours. This is because the Tumblr Admin considers this stealing, so please, make sure you pay much attention to this detail.
FOR PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK: When you decide to save one of our pictures and upload it as your profile picture, on your wall, or in any given personal albums of yours, make sure that you cite our blog. Facebook gives you the option to make your own commentary or title at the bottom of the picture, so thebeautyofislam suggests that you provide our url as the given source. This is only because we want people to understand that these pictures have been reblogged, reposted, and reuploaded from other blogs that we follow. So please, make sure that you consider doing this insha’Allah.
Conclusively, we want to point out the difference between having permission to share our content vs. completely disregarding these suggestions and rules and doing as you please. It is not only fair to the admins who run thebeautyofislam (for we take time to find pictures, source them from whatever given site, and blog them), but is also unfair for the people who actually create these images. Insa’Allah we have clarified this issue and have cleared up any misunderstanding regarding it.
Any fault is ours, and all good is from Allah alone.
